The following record concerns an incident dated March 17, 2000, in the countryside just north of Ruthin, Wales. It is referenced internally only as The 2000 Incident. The contents have been kept under seal for over two decades. Today, in the interest of operative preparedness and cross-divisional pattern recognition, I am authorizing the release of a single document and summary.
The material includes one fragmentary field report, a partial transcription from our sole surviving agent, and an anecdotal account from a local civilian. What occurred at that site remains, to this day, the only incident on record that produced a Category Null classification without a surviving entity, traceable glyph set, or internal trait consensus.
Read carefully, Agents, and learn. It is not always the Demon that is seen that does the most harm.

CONSOLIDATED INCIDENT BRIEF
Filed: 04.21.2000
Compiled by: Investigative Analyst Idris K. Mahlon
Division: Security & Risk
Incident ID: 00-Δ-RUTHIN-0713
Classification: Pattern Black – Provisional Category Null
Site: Farmstead ruins, outskirts of Ruthin, Denbighshire, UK
Coordinates: 53°07’N, 03°22’W
Operational Oversight: Surveillance & Intelligence, Ritual Oversight, Arcane R&D
OVERVIEW
On March 17, 2000, a seven-agent team was dispatched to investigate anomalous EM bleed and unverified summoning glyphs at a rural site in Wales. Six agents were lost. One, Agent Mireille Duvant, was recovered alive but disoriented, with gaps in memory and residual sigil burns on her palms.
No entity was captured. No conventional Traits were confirmed. The following report is compiled from surviving elements: camera failures, corrupted equipment logs, mission prep manifests, survivor testimony, and a statement from a nearby civilian witness.
FIELD FINDINGS (ABRIDGED)
-
P.K.A.D. detected an unstable aggression profile but self-triggered an override protocol not present in official firmware. Final audible output recorded: “This isn’t right.” Unit destroyed by internal heat spike.
-
Helios Shard failed to illuminate under all test conditions. Ritual Oversight confirmed shard integrity. No Trait linked to Light Aversion could be validated.
-
Camera logs from four agents abruptly terminated between 00:28 and 00:34. Several feeds distorted into recursive loops, showing agents standing in places they had not yet entered.
-
One recovered glyph (designated NOX-17) appeared etched into stone upon second entry to the substructure. It was not present during the initial sweep. Sketch uploaded to the Restricted Archive. Its formation sequence is unknown.
- Final Transmission of Agent N. partially recorded prior to evacuation procedures. “I think it’s trying to remember which one of us it was -“
SURVIVOR STATEMENT – AGENT M. DUVANT (EXCERPT)
“It wasn’t hunting us. Not like we were doing. It was listening. Like it wanted to know how to speak. Every time we said something, I think it… rewrote it. Like it was learning us backwards.”
CIVILIAN ACCOUNT – RECORDED 03.19.2000
Witness: Carys Morgan, age 9
“I saw them walking wrong across the field. Their arms went the wrong way. Like folded birds. They weren’t wearing coats, but there was steam like they were really hot.”
“The barn lights blinked for hours. I watched while mama went to get help. I think the people left before she got back. I know the animals were already gone.”
ANALYSIS SUMMARY
-
Entity Form: Unconfirmed
-
Traits Identified: None validated. All standard detection tools failed or behaved anomalously. Suspected Shapeshifting Special Trait, but no confirmation.
-
Ritual Signatures: Present, but unstable and unreproducible
-
Survivability: 1 of 7 (Duvant)
-
Site Status: Permanently sealed under Cross-Divisional Lock
-
Classification: Category Null (pending formal confirmation)
-
Recommendation: No follow-up engagement. Pattern suggests pre-Manifestation incursion or non-sequential contact event
