In light of preliminary analyses conducted by DofSR, we conclude that the Earth is heading into a most critical period in its fight against demons (ref: WP#56923-04).
The rate of Chaos Events (defined as historic causative pulses of unnatural deaths of 8-10M+) are advancing rapidly. The historic rate of Chaos Events in the 1,481-year period prior to the 18th century occurred at a median rate of 158 years between pulses. This provided the Society’s first 200-year operating history with ample opportunity to rest and recover between Chaos Events. Since 1701, the median rate of pulses has dwindled to YEARLY. Earth’s carrying capacity for humans, or the maximum population it can sustainably support, is a subject of ongoing debate, with estimates ranging from 7.7 to 10.4 billion, potentially peaking around the mid-2080s (Cohen, J.E. (1995). How many people can the earth support? W.W. Norton & Company, New York, NY, USA). With a rate of unnatural death loss of 10M+ per year, the Earth will run out of people within the next 104 years when demons will succeed in their war against humanity. There has never been a time more critical to the Society than the present. To quote Winston Churchill, “Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.” We must diligently prepare for a war of our lives.
RECOMMENDATION 1: The Society should actively recruit for chaos magicians at an accelerated rate. Ideal candidates will be those who are well-versed in quantum physics, chaos theory, and popular culture.
RECOMMENDATION 2: DofSR will immediately double the curriculum of its program for security and risk onboarding to new agents. Without enhanced training, the Society will lose agents to death and madness at a rate unforeseen or experienced by Netherwatch in its 500-year period.
RECOMMENDATION 3: Existing agents will be required to complete a 2-day refresher security and risk training session. All current agents must complete this refresher training by the end of the calendar year 2025 (before they are sent into the field again). This will strain our investigative capacity, which highlights the need for enhanced recruitment (see Recommendation 1).
